Last week we looked at how indifference had the ability to cripple the individual who refuses to make a decision. This week we will look at how indecision invites sin into your situation and gives it an opportunity to affect it's damage.
In Genesis 4:5-7, we see where Cain's offering has been rejected by God and he is depressed and angry. He is now deciding about whether he will murder his brother, whose sacrifice has been accepted by God. In verse 7 God says to Cain, "If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not well, sin crouches at your door; it's desire is for you, but you must master it." (Amplified Bible)
Cain's indecision provided a welcome mat for sin to come knocking at his spiritual door! It's as if sin was waiting outside Cain's door to see what he would choose! Of course, Cain could have said no and mastered sin as God had said he could, but he decided to allow sin to master him. The results were tragic and Able was killed.
What continues to grab my attention is the fact that sin never would have even been allowed "inside the house" if Cain had not been in that place of indecision. Indecision is the soil out of which the seed of sin and it's affects are allowed to grow and produce it's desire in our lives. Let's be people who keep that door closed! Have a great week!
