I Timothy 6:10 tells us that "the love of money is the root of all evil." This has been misquoted as "money" is the root of all evil, but money is neither evil or the root of evil. This verse does say that an improper relationship to money may be the anchoring factor in the operation of evil in someone's life. In other words, how I relate to money can be the cause of great trouble or great blessing in my life. I'm not suggesting that the way you balance your checkbook is the problem, but the way we relate to the Kingdom of God with our money will certainly affect our lives.
This subject is best understood when we realize the God ordained purpose for money. Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us that money is really for "the establishing of God's covenant" in the earth. Certainly we use money to purchase items and use it as a means of exchange, but it's main purpose is to establish God's kingdom in this earth. If I love money to the extent that I'm not using it for it's God ordained purpose, the operation of "all evil" will begin to gain access into my life and affect it's destructive process. More to be said. Have a great week!
