Okay, it may be a drastic title but it is nonetheless true. A world has come to an end. The question is, what world? Let's look.

Hebrews 9:26 speaks of what happened at the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. It says, "For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." This verse clearly states that a "world" or an "age" came to an end at the sacrifice of Jesus. It certainly was not the world that we occupy, it was the "world" or the age of sin's dominance over mankind. The verse says that Jesus "put away sin" by his sacrifice. We can now live free from the dominion of sin in our lives. Romans 6:14 tells us that sin shall not have dominion over us! If the world of sin's dominion has ended, then we no longer have to obey it's dictates and commands.

If the boss at IBM ordered you to do something, would you have to do it? Not if you weren't employed by IBM. His orders would not apply to you because you work for someone else. We no longer are employed by sin and it's orders. That company has gone bankrupt, has filed chapter eleven. That age has come to an end! We now receive our directions from the Spirit of God as he leads us by His Word. Our world is free from sin's ability to master us because it's power has been put away by Jesus! Have a great week.
