In the day we live in there are plenty of things that can create situations that may seem to be more than we can handle. Life has it's way of presenting us all with challenges and storms that are designed to stop our advancement and even put us out of comission to destroy our effectiveness for God's Kingdom. Once the storm hits, it can set off a reaction from us that will assist the storm with it's job! Let me explain.

In Psalm 77:3, the psalmist writes, "...I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed." Let's face it. The storms of life are bad enough! When we complain about them, we are in danger of overwhelming the very place where we get instructions from the Father, our spirit. The word overwhelm here means to "cover over with darkness". Think of it, our complaining words can darken our ability to hear from God and get the answers we need for the storm we are in! Actually, I can't remember ever seeing good results come from the griping I did! It only worked to make the situation more challenging.

Let's all guard our mouths in this area of complaining! We need our spirit to be the candle of the Lord, not a place of overwhelming darkness! Have a great week!
