In 2 Chronicles 18, we find the account of the godly Jehoshaphat, King of Judah, joining forces with the ungodly king of Israel, Ahab, to battle the Syrian army at Ramoth-gilead. The move was a poor decision by Jehoshaphat because of the sinful state of Ahab and Israel. Prior to the battle, Ahab called for his 400 prophets to foretell the outcome of the confrontation. In one accord the 400 prophets said to "Go up; for God will deliver it into the king's hand." In other words, victory will be yours.
King Jehoshaphat knew something was wrong with these prophets. He asked if there was a real prophet who could speak for God. King Ahab said yes and called for Miciah, a man he hated because he always spoke the truth! Basically, Miciah told them that if they went to battle, Ahab would be killed. They ignored Miciah's counsel and went to fight the Syrians. The results were just as Miciah had spoken, Ahab was killed and Jehoshophat narrowly escaped with his life.
Four hundred so-called prophets said victory was theirs. One man said something different. That one man was correct. Remember, when everyone is speaking their mind about a subject, God's Word is always right! Have a great week.
