Did you know that Jesus commanded us to heal the sick? If we look at Matthew 10:5-8, Jesus commands the twelve to go and preach that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Verse 8 says to, "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give." These men were commanded to do these things. They were not after thoughts just in case they felt like doing them! Jesus was very clear in giving this as a command, not a suggestion.
Some may say that the twelve apostles were commanded to do these things, not us! I certainly understand that thought, but we must also look at what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20. He said to the twelve, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching THEM to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever I have COMMANDED you..." The twelve were told to teach all nations (that includes us) to observe (see and do) all the things that Jesus had commanded them to accomplish. As we look back to Matthew 10:5-8 we see again that a vital part of that command was to heal the sick. We must conclude that the same command given to the Apostles was also given to the New Testament Church as well.
We must begin to take seriously the orders of our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that by acting on God's Word through simple faith and obedience, we can see the fruit of what Jesus said we can do! Have a great week!
