In John 14:6, Jesus makes a very bold statement. He declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." These powerful words spoken by the Lord Jesus define without question the fact that no one can experience a relationship with the Father God apart from knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 1 John 5:11-13 says, "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
What I love about these verses is their defining, unwavering status: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the only way to eternal life. I understand the controversy this creates for some people, but the clarity of these words cannot be ignored. I must come to face this and respond to what the scripture is telling me. All religions recognize Jesus as a prophet or a great man of God. They agree He was not a liar. That being the case, He wasn't lying when He said that He was the only way to the Father. Many have said, "If someone is a good person during their life, they'll make heaven." Others feel that if someone adheres to the belief system of their chosen religion, that will open Heaven's gates for them. Opinions exist, but we must go back to what Jesus said and not ignore the direct words He spoke from His heart to all men. He said that He was the only way.
I trust and pray that Jesus Christ has become your way, truth and life. Have a great week!
