Romans 8:29 tells us that Jesus is the "firstborn among many brethren." Colossians 1:18 calls Jesus the "firstborn from the dead." The word firstborn used here is the Greek word "prototokos". It is the word from which we get our English word prototype. Much can be said about this idea, but let me share a simple thought with you. The prototype is the original from which all the copies are made. Since Jesus is the firstborn (original) among many brethren (us, the copies) we can conclude that His life, nature and attributes are residing inside us who believe.
On this resurrection celebration, let's all act like copies of the original! Even at times when we don't feel like being sweet or godly, let's allow the nature of our risen Lord Jesus Christ to control our words and actions. Have a great week.
