Ye Are Not Your Own

7/5/2006

In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul makes a very profound declaration. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." These words put a different perspective on our lives if we'll listen to what they are saying. My body and my spirit are really not mine, they belong to God. I am not my own! I don't belong to me! That may sound silly but it still remains a fact. I was purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ! I belong to Father God.

That being the case, my actions and words should reflect His ownership. My opinions should be determined by God's Word, not simply by what I feel. How I view others should demonstrate a shining example of the Father's love, not by how I was raised or by what I was taught as a child about other cultures and people. In every one of life's situations, my conduct can be a sign to all that I am different from the rest! I can be an exhibit of God's ownership to all and walk in love towards all.

Remember, the purchaser is the one who determines the value of a product, not the store! The store may say an item is worth twenty dollars, but if the purchaser doesn't think it's worth twenty dollars, he won't buy it! You and I have been purchased by Heaven's costliest substance, the Blood of Jesus. That simply means that God thinks you and I have great value. Since He bought us, let's all show forth the value that God has invested in our lives! Have a great week.
