In Bible times, when a king or a high ranking officer needed to send a message to someone, they would assign that job to a dedicated, trustworthy individual that they could rely upon to get the job done in a timely, accurate manner. That individual would also be given the same level of authority that the sending official possessed. When the message was delivered, it was understood that what was being said was coming from a level of authority that must be obeyed.
In Mark 16:15 Jesus told us to "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Verses 17-18 says, "....In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
We are to go "in his name" to do all these things that Jesus had done! The simple truth is that we possess the authority of the sending official, Jesus Christ, as we go to deliver the message He has assigned us to bring. We are messengers with His authority! As in Bible times, let's be dedicated, trustworthy people who can be depended upon to get the job done. Have a great week.
